Things 22 & 23

I had 100% participation in my library staff completing this program since I am the library staff.
I can see both staff and students utilizing flickr & image generators. I know we can utilize image generators and flickr mashups on websites, brochures, flyers, etc. I can see us using google docs for polls--items to order, favorite series & authors, maybe Bluebonnet voting? Staff will love blog readers, delicious, and rss feeds. Can't wait to show them LibraryThing and some of the students will use it too. One of the teachers and I had already discussed a wiki presentation for the students to use in place of the more traditional bookreport. Maybe we can utilize the image generators on a flyer for another bookreport substitute. On a personal note--Facebook is more enjoyable than I had first thought--talk about working outside my comfort zone! Thanks for an interesting and informative summer.

Things 20 & 21

You Tube is a fascinating spot--lots of everything both useful and entertaining. I had never thought about looking for library events & promotions on it before. I've seen podcasts different places before. Some more effective than others & some that need their audio quality improved. Love that libsuccess wiki--its got a little of everything on it.

Things 18 & 19

Wiki--One of the teachers on my campus wants to try using a wiki for students to post their book reviews--modern take on the old book report I used to do in school. She & I will set it up and work out the logistics.

GoogleDocs--looking forward to setting this up so teachers can give me feedback & info can be compiled electronically by the computer. Might set it up for students too--they like to give input on materials to be ordered for the library.

Thing 16

I really like the group Librarians who Library Thing. Name that Book is cool & helpful. I always get reading ideas from the group who like to read mysteries. Library Thing is a keeper.

Thing 15

Digg is entertaining. Larger variety than usual of stories since they do not come from a limited source--news editor. I did not sign up for an account but I will go in periodically to view what has been contributed.

Things 13 &14

I heard about Delicious a couple of years ago but never pursued it further. I am in the process of importing bookmarks now & this thing will be very useful since I work on items at home & at school.
As for tagging--librarians tag all the time--we call them subject tracings. Should be useful. I'm not sure about patrons tagging. I'll have to think about that.
